Between Cold Weather and Catching a Cold.

Sneezing, coughing, rhinorrhoea are associated with catching a cold. But do they have any link with cold weather. Do every cold weather you experienced translate to you having a cough or sneezing.
For a long time, this has been a myth. But a new study finds otherwise!!!
A slight chill increases the rate at which Rhinovirus, the virus responsible for common cold, multiply in lab mice, said a study published on monday by Yale University Scientists.
Cold temperature have been implicated to trigger immune response, that let the common cold virus replicate unchecked.

Scientist have suspected for over fifty years now, that rhinovirus thrives in a cold weather. A study conducted in 1960, found out that the rhinovirus multiply quickly at temperature 33 degree Celsius (91.4 Fahrenheit) than at body temperature (37-degree Celsius or 98.6F).

This new study confirms the 1960 study, that the common cold virus replicates more efficiently and have a higher virulence at lower temperatures. This is as published in The Proceedings of National Academy of Science.
So, exposure to rhinovirus is still a prerequisite to catching a cold.
