Sokoto Med Students Get Scholarship

The Minister of State for Health and Supervising Minister for Health, Dr. Haliru Alhassan, has awarded N6 million personal scholarship to over 300 students in medical and veterinary studies at the Usmanu Danfodio  University, Sokoto. The scholarship also covers some students in the School of Nursing Sciences.
Beneficiaries were drawn from across the 23 local government areas of the state.
The figures include 79 and 24 medical students in 200 and 300 levels respectively; 30 and 58 veterinary students in 300 and 200 levels, respectively; 50 student nurses and one student to get a Masters degree in Nursing in the UK.

Present at the occasion were Chairman of the occasion and Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof Abdullahi Zuru, Chairman of the State Nigerian Medical Association, Dr Jimoh Abdulgafar, Chief Medical Director of the Usmanu Danfodiyo Teaching Hospital, Dr. Yakubu Ahmed and other eminent personalities.
