Ebola Will End This Year - UN

The deadly Ebola outbreak will be ended this year, the head of the United Nations team fighting the disease has said. 

Anthony Banbury said the number of Ebola cases would be brought down to zero by the close of this year, but admitted that the end was “not close.” “We are engaged in an epic battle,” he said. 

BBC reports that the virus has killed nearly 8,000 people, mostly in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea, where the disease started in December 2013. 

Mr Banbury admitted his three month mission had failed to hit its target of 100% safe burials and treatment of 70% of infected people. 

But he praised international efforts and insisted “the global response to the Ebola crisis has been extremely successful”. 

“Going forward it’s going to be extremely hard for us to bring it down to zero [cases], but that is what we will do,” he told reporters, adding: “I believe we will end Ebola in 2015."

My closest friend has bleeding lips, this is now a yearly ritual for him, for which he is least bothered. Sleep should be an uncomfortable act considering the aforementioned feature in harmattan period.

ISIS Fighters Have Contracted Ebola.

The World Health Organisation is investigating reports that ISIS militants have been showing up at an Iraqi hospital with Ebola.

According to three media outlets an undisclosed number of militants displaying signs of the disease attended a hospital in the ISIS-held city of Mosul,  250 miles north of Baghdad.

While the reports, from Kurdish and pro-Iraqi sources, remain unconfirmed, WHO spokesman Christy Feig said the group are trying to reach out to officials in ISIS-held areas to offer help.

According to a report in Iraqi's pro-government news outlet, al-shabaah, the disease was brought into Monsul by terrorist arriving from several countries including Africa.

New Year Mood Still On

Hmm!!! This is the second day in January and they whole place is still in a lull.
I was just wondering, with the whole economic melt-down stories, further devaluation of the Naira, on-going and planned industrial action, everybody should have returned to work.

I also hear that Monday, 5th of January is also another public holiday.
For me, these are holidays one too many. We need to be at work for our country needs to be on full steam after almost 3 days of no work.

The disease is still ravaging our neighbours in Sierra Leone, Liberia and other places of the world.
