Anyone who knows anything about crime knows one of the first things detectives look for at a crime scene is fingerprints, those unique markers left by the ridges on everyone’s fingers. These impressions have been used as personal signatures for thousands of years, going as far back as 300 B.C. in China, where letters would be sealed with clay and impressed with the authors fingerprint. And in the late 1800s, a medical missionary in Japan named Henry Faulds was the first to publish research in a journal about the uniqueness, and potential for individualization, of these ridges.

Sad: Mother-Of-3 Dies of Cervical Cancer Because She was Scared of Pap Smear.

A mother-of-three who was too frightened to go for a smear test has died of cervical cancer.
Amanda Booth was just 28 when she passed away on Good Friday, having only been diagnosed with the disease last year.
Mrs Booth, from Middlesborough, was mother to Demilee, 11, Leon, eight, and Lucas, five, and her family said she 'lived for her kids'.
She was diagnosed with the disease last June after she noticed she was bleeding, but had been too scared to go for a smear test.

Jimi Agbaje Responds To Oba of Lagos Threat To Lagos Igbos

In the words of Winston Churchill: “Never, never, never give up.”
I’m aware of the intimidation that a lot of you might be facing as we head into the final stretch of this election campaign. I get it. I understand what you are going through because I also had to face it in the course of this campaign, if this serves as any consolation.
One thing I’ve learnt in life, however, is that the people who threaten you, knowingly or unknowingly, further validate your importance and underscore advantage. I would like to take this time to encourage you all not to respond to intimidation with violence but rather confront it with the collective power of your votes. Change is coming to Lagos. Tell your friends and families.
I hope you all had a pleasant Easter celebration.

Yemen Conflicts: Red Cross Still Unable to Render Aid

Aid flights to Yemen are being held back by "logistical problems", as violence in the country continues.
Saudi air strikes have been targeting Houthi rebels for almost two weeks.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) was given permission to land planes carrying staff and medical supplies, by a Saudi-led coalition on Saturday.
But the flights have been unable to depart, according to ICRC spokeswoman Claire Feghali.
The UN says more than 500 people have been killed, as the Houthis battle forces loyal to beleaguered President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi.
"We are still working on getting the plane to Sanaa. It's a bit difficult with the logistics because there are not that many companies or cargo planes willing to fly into a conflict zone," Ms Feghali told Reuters.
However, she insisted she had "high hopes" that 48 tonnes of medical supplies would be delivered by "tomorrow or the day after".

Oba of Lagos Warns All Igbos To Vote Ambode, or Die!!!

These times are indeed strange. The Oba of Lagos has issued a threat to all igbos voting on Saturday's gubernatorial elections. This happened after the Oba, Rilwan Akiolu, summoned all Lagos Ezes to his palace. Our democracy is indeed unique. Read his outburst here..

"On Saturday, if any one of you goes against Ambode who I picked, that is your end. If it doesn’t happen within seven days, just know that I am a bastard and its not my father who gave birth to me. By  the grace of God, I am the owner of Lagos for the time being. This is an undivided chair. The palace belongs to the dead and those coming in the future. On Saturday, if anyone of you, I swear in the name of God, goes against my wish that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos state, the person is going to die inside this water.
For the Igbos and others in Lagos, they should go where the Oba of Lagos heads to. When they were coming to the state, they didn’t come with all their houses. But now they have properties in the state. So they must do my bidding. And that is the bidding of the ancestors of Lagos and God. I am not ready to beg you. Nobody knew how I picked Ambode. Jimi is my blood relation and I told him that he can never be governor in Lagos for now. The future belongs to God. I am not begging anybody, but what you people cannot do in Onitsha, Aba or anywhere you can not do it here.
If you do what I want, Lagos will continue to be prosperous for you, if you go against my wish, you will perish in the water. I am for the progress, growth and development in Lagos, Ambode is highly cerebral, he’s a symbol and he is going to deliver the message which I the Oba of Lagos have said. And he will govern the state for another eight years. He is going on a mission and God will give him the wisdom and knowledge to fulfill that mission. Almost a year ago, I declared that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos and it will not change. From time immemorial, the previous occupiers  of this house will say what they wanted after consultation with other people. And this hasn’t change and it will not change at this time.” he allegedly said

Hilarious!!! French Govt Set To Ban Ultra Slim Models

NAN – The French parliament on Friday adopted an amendment to a sweeping health law that would prohibit fashion models from having an abnormally low body mass index.
The amendment, which leaves the determination of a healthy BMI to health authorities, imposes a fine of up to 75,000 euros, approximately $81,840 and prison sentences of up to six months for employers of ultra-thin models.
“Images of bodies that valorise excessive thinness or emaciation and that stigmatise curves undoubtedly contribute to unwellness, especially among young girls,” said the text of the amendment proposed by Socialist lawmaker Olivier Veran.
Some 30,000 to 40,000 people in France suffer from anorexia nervosa, a behavioural disorder characterised by an obsessive desire to lose weight.
The condition afflicts some 0.5 per cent of French girls.
Conservative lawmakers, who oppose the amendment, say it is the equivalent of discriminating against people who are thin by nature.
Health Minister Marisol Touraine expressed her support for the measure.
Touraine told French broadcaster BFM-TV recently that is was “important for fashion models to say that they need to eat well and take care of their health.”

Association Of Medical Laboratory Scientist Of Nigeria Congratulates General Buhari.

The National President, National Executive Officers and the entire members of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) join all Nigerians in congratulating Nigeria's President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR).

The President-elect sir, we very much believe that your victory at the polls was a direct reflection of the wishes of Nigerians based on your indelible track records of performance, integrity, credibility, passion for the masses, selflessness in public service and your persistent struggles for the good of Nigeria and Nigerians.
It is obvious that in every election, there must be a winner, no doubt, you were destined to be the winner of the 2015 Presidential Elections. This has been reflected by the outcome of the Presidential election.
AMLSN appreciates President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GCFR) for providing a level playing field for free, fair and credible elections. History will remember him for being an advocate of democracy, a true democrat and a statesman per excellence.

Mr President-elect sir, we are particularly impressed with your passion for a better Nigeria and especially the health sector which from records, experienced great feat at your first coming between 1983-1985. We are optimistic that you will appoint credible, competent, unbiased and experienced administrators to lead the Federal Ministry of Health. This no doubt, will put an end to incessant crisis in the health sector in Nigeria. History has it that when an experienced, professionally unbiased health economist/administrator was in charge, our health sector in Nigeria ranked 4th in the whole of commonwealth nations. Regrettably, decline sets in drastically from 1985 soon after your exit as the then Head of government. Health sector is made up several Professional groups all of which have the capacity to perform optimally when given a level playing field, the needed motivations, necessary tools and enabling environments. This will in turn, promote Universal Health Coverage, reduce out of pocket health expenditures for all Nigerians, promote the achievement of health related MDGs among others.
Our Association will be readily available and willing to contribute our best professionally; especially in the areas of effective, efficient, reliable, affordable and timely Medical Laboratory Services in the health sector.
May your tenure be peaceful, fruitful and rewarding for all sectors of Nigerian economy and for all Nigerians (Amen).
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Signed:
Alh Toyosi Y Raheem-National President, AMLSN.
Adeyeye Adetunji Tam National PRO, AMLSN

Dear DQB readers, this open letter was sent to me by a loyal reader. He said I should make it open and let Nigerians (especially President Jonathan) know how he feels about the Presidential Elections. I m sorry I did not read the email earlier, but here it is. Enjoy.
