NMA takes a swipe at political parties

Dr Kayode Obembe
Just as I thought!! Political parties are not even talking about what their candidate would do to ensure adequate health care coverage for Nigerians. They are bickering over unfeasible ideas. So its good the Nigeria Medical Association has taken a strong position on this abberation.

President of the NMA at a press breifing in Abuja, on wednesday urged the politcal parties fielding candidates to make available in their manofestoes, debates, a well articulated health care roadmap for the good of Nigerians.

He also said that it was a dangerous trend for politicians not to make health care issues a topical point as we march toward the polls. Furthermore, he reminded politicians that with Nigeria's martenal mortality ratio being the second highest in the world at 454 per 100000 live birth and about 8000 children dying in just their first month of live, there is the need for a better Universal Health Coverage for all her citizens.
