Politicians are trotting the length and breadth of our dear country, massively campaigning for the vote and trust of Nigerians. Promises are flying up and down. Our dear President is billed to be in Lagos to seek the trust and vote of the resident of the region. The news portals are awash with so much that we forget what was said the previous day. But I believe it is simple. Action should match words.
Nigerians truly know whom they want. If all goes well come February 14, for we cannot afford to get it wrong this time, we would totally deserve all that we will get from then on.
Personality should matter in our choice, for the political parties seem to have nothing to offer as an entity.
Leave the campaigns to the politicians. We are closely watching. Nigerians are closely watching.
I expect our new leaders to walk the talk, to be accountable to the citizens, to put God and Service far above every other inclinations or tendencies.
I expect at the end of this whole masquerading, the loser will promptly and without hesitation congratulate the winner because the process was free and fair for all to see.
I expect the new leader to work diligently but steadily, since nation-building is never done overnight.
But being that sometimes, we can be desperate for undeserved portfolios, I expect to see pockets of irregularities. And since we can be sour losers, I expect to see some contend try to make a mess of the whole system.
I am not too bothered. We will prevail over this problems as we have done in the past.
I expect after all this, we can sleep better at night!!!
