I love to watch a football match. It could be so refreshing especially when I am the winning team.
This was my usual mood, a couple of weeks ago, when a player with jersey number 03 fell to the ground after a tackle by an opponent. That was obviously a foul kick, but player number 03 was still whining in pains on the green pitch. I prayed he does not suffer an ankle fracture; it was an ankle sprain.
Ankle sprains are quite becoming a common feature in contact sports. A fellow colleague is recuperating from a sprain of his ankle.
Commonest symptoms and signs of ankle sprain includes;
-Pain or tenderness
-Bruising and/or swelling
-Paraesthesia
-muscle spasm.
While preparing to convey patient to the hospital and still on the pitch, a conservative treatment option can be done. This may also be known First Aid Management. The conservative management of ankle sprain goes by the acronym; RICE (R - Rest, I - Ice, C - Compression, E - Elevation)
The next thing is to move him to a facility, where the sprain would be corrected.
In conclusion, ankle sprains are very painful on onset and if not managed properly could become complicated into limb length discrepancy, and ultimately his football career will just be wishful thinking.
