Strange Things Your body Do in a cold Harmattan

With the Harmattan comes a cold dusty air! But have you ever stopped to think of the effect of cold on the human body systems?

The responses manifested by the body has always been to balance the disequilibrium caused by these external stimulants.
A cold air would cause different but similar responses in both male and females;

1) GOOSE PIMPLES; this is usually classical and most times show that one is cold. Goose pimples has to do with the pilomotor reflexes of the involuntary muscles just underneath the skin surface as controlled by the autonomic nervous system

2)NIPPLES ENLARGE; also a similar mechanism occur as in goose pimples. It has nothing to do with erectile tissue but contraction of cylindrically arranged smooth muscle cells under the control of the autonomic nervous system.

3) SCROTUM SHRINKAGE; still remember the 1st time I had the feeling, I was scared and surprised at the same time. Thought I was actually sick. Only to discover some years later that its only the body's way of preserving the function of the testis.

4)TESTICLE DISAPPEARANCE; this is also know as retractile testicle. It is a response seen in men for the preservation of the sperm cells and for continuity of the human race.
